Raptors open and get rings against Zion and more schedule notes

Two of the most talked-about games with four of the league's top players became official Monday when the National Basketball Association announced its 2019-2020 schedule.

The stretches of four games in five days might be gone for good. The teams won't meet next season until March 5 in Golden State. The Clippers are one of the early title favorites, so the Warriors will have their hands full in the first official game at Chase Center.

They can thank Zion. Six of LA's first seven games in 2020 will be played at home, with the lone exception being a road matchup with the Denver Nuggets.

December figures to be a hard stretch for the Clippers as well, as three of the team's back-to-backs will be played during the month.

In March, the difficulty ramps back up - the Clippers open the month with games against Philadelphia, Oklahoma City, Houston, Los Angeles, Golden State, Brooklyn and New Orleans. Boston, Dallas and New Orleans all have youthful yet highly-skilled rosters. Seven of those back-to-backs will be consecutive road games.

"He's already shown he's still the complete player that the Lakers wanted so I don't think he needs to worry about that", Abdul-Jabbar said Monday during a phone interview while attending the grand opening of NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The Warriors, however, will not have the ability to lose focus as they play a menacing stretch of five games with expected playoff teams, including three games on the road.

Fortunately for the Warriors, they will receive a rare three-day break before they head over to Philly, giving them a chance to catch their breath and rest their legs. That doesn't include the January 24 game in Paris between Milwaukee and Charlotte. Despite losing Kawhi Leonard, the Raptors should still be worthy of an Eastern Conference playoff spot with Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam.

The regular season ends with 13 games on April 15. One that many players don't necessarily make in their second or third seasons. Chemistry will be something that the Lakers have to work on early in the season, as many of their players were not on the team last season.
