Bill Romanowski Says No Way Antonio Brown Retires, 'Cuckoo' To Believe That

Bill Romanowski Says No Way Antonio Brown Retires, 'Cuckoo' To Believe That

The NFL's response, issued by spokesman Brian McCarthy, essentially boils down to: "That's not how this is gonna go".

On Monday, an arbitrator ruled against Brown in a grievance filed against the National Football League, putting an end to Brown's hopes of wearing the Schutt Air Advantage helmet this season. The NFL said Brown would be in breach of his contract if he didn't play in a new helmet.

The report said the AIR Advantage hasn't been produced since 2011, so that gives Brown a two-year window of helmets that would still abide by the NFL's rules.

"Brown can't use his preferred helmet - a Schutt AiR Advantage - in 2019, because that specific helmet is more than 10 years old". Brown said he wouldn't play without his old helmet.

Late last week, Brown made it clear that he has no intention of playing unless he gets to wear his trusty 10-year-old helmet, which has since outlawed by the league and NFLPA to increase player safety. The players were able to use the helmets last season under a grace period but will have to make the change this season.

According to OnLeaks , the G8X ThinQ measures 159.3 x 75.8 x 8.5mm and has a 6.2-inch display. We also got hints that a dual-screen phone, perhaps the LG V60 ThinQ is on the horizon.

McCarthy didn't mention Brown by name when he tweeted: "The player can't practice or play in games with equipment that's not approved".

"He has a strong feeling about what he's worn on his head, and we're supporting him. As much as I loved that helmet, I knew some things were out of my control and that was one of them". "I hope I can start calling them".

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the story via Twitter, writing: "Raiders' WR Antonio Brown has told team officials that, unless he gets to wear his old helmet, he will not play football again, per league sources".

Expect Brown to wear an approved helmet when he returns from that injury.
