Judiciary issues blitz of subpoenas for Kushner, Sessions, Trump associates

Judiciary issues blitz of subpoenas for Kushner, Sessions, Trump associates

Robert Mueller, the Democrats know, will be tough to crack.

The subpoenas are related to a probe into allegations of obstruction of justice by Trump, previously addressed in the Special Counsel Robert Mueller investigation.

The hearing is being billed as a make-or-break moment for Democrats pressing for the House to begin an impeachment inquiry into the President, with advocates predicting his appearance will convince the public of the seriousness of the alleged crimes detailed in the sweeping report.

"The world sees Trump for what he is: Insincere, ill-informed and impulsive - and sometimes corrupt, dangerously incompetent and incapable, in my view, of world leadership and leadership at home", Biden said in a speech on foreign policy in NY.

Rep. Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican, said he'll take the hearing in a different direction, prodding Mr. Mueller on Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, the two Federal Bureau of Investigation employees engaged in an extramarital affair who were working for Mr. Mueller until their vehemently anti-Trump text messages were discovered.

"We have been doing that through pursuing the unredacted Mueller reporter and key related witnesses and documents", Nadler said.

He said the U.S. needs "to look for opportunities for strength and domestic cooperation with friends beyond North America and Europe, reaching to our partners in Asia including Japan, South Korea, Australia, India, to fortify our collective capabilities". The committee is comprised of 24 Democratic members and 17 Republican members. I read the unredacted report.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said today that she will no longer be discussing actions made by Attorney General William Barr because she believes he lied while under oath and testifying before Congress. He said Democrats are just "chasing their tails" and are aiming to placate base voters who want to see the Democratic House majority take on the president. "I think bias will be the word of the day".

The Judiciary Committee is expected to focus on the second half of Mueller's report, which details multiple episodes in which Trump attempted to influence the investigation. While the judiciary panel is investigating obstruction of justice, the intelligence panel is looking at Russian interference in the 2016 election.

It's not clear what Mr. Mueller is willing to say beyond recounting his findings and conclusions.

Representative Adam Schiff, who leads the intelligence committee, said he expects the special counsel's office to live up to the agreements for Mueller and his aides to testify. But that might be in jeopardy as the Justice Department has pushed back on the arrangement, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.

Barr spoke to the AP Monday in SC, where he visited a prison to discuss the criminal justice reform Trump signed into law previous year. The panel previously said Donaldson would appear in person after November 1.

Mueller wrote that he would have exonerated Trump if he could, but he wasn't able to do that given the evidence he uncovered.

"They also want to interview the highly conflicted and compromised Mueller again". Mueller, who was reluctant to testify, has been firm that he will stick to what's already in the report.

Biden, who openly smirked when asked the question, stood defiant in the face of the activists, many of whom waved signs and chanted at the former vice president.
