AFCON 2019: Each Nigerian player has bagged $72000 in bonuses so far

"We can forget about the defeat to Madagascar now because we are through to the semi-final".

The Super Eagles finished top of a section including 2017 African champions Cameroon and Algeria on the road to Russian Federation previous year, defeating the Desert Foxes 3-1 at home before a 1-1 draw in the return fixture. Although they lost 2-1, the then Green Eagles defeated Egypt 3-2 in the third place match for their first AFCON bronze medal.

Nigeria's footballers stand to earn a minimum $75,000 windfall if they find the net against Algeria in Sunday's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final in Cairo.

The Super Eagles have received pledges of more dollar rain from two of Africa's richest businessmen, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola, following Nigeria's qualification for the semi final at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations holding in Egypt.

The previous training ground was where the team prepared for the match against South Africa and the lush arena is just about 24 kilometres away from Cairo International Stadium.

"Now I see a solid Algeria side with a good balance between attack and defence".

MLB Legend Dwight Gooden Reportedly Arrested for Cocaine Possession

When the Super Eagles met the Desert Foxes in their group match on March 11, 1982 in the AFCON hosted by Libya, Algeria got back their pound of flesh beating Nigeria 2-0.

While Dangote made a pledge of $50,000 to the team for every goal in their remaining two matches at the championship, Otedola pledged $25,000 for every goal.

Algeria beat Nigeria twice, including 1-0 in the final, to lift the trophy in Algiers in 1990 to follow on from the likes of Lakhdar Belloumi and Salah Assad, who helped put the country on the footballing map a few years earlier.

The Eagles were beaten 2-0 by the Barea at Alexandria Stadium in their last Group B encounter nearly two weeks ago.

Ahmed Musa has appealed to Egyptian fans to continue supporting the Super Eagles at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

"Algeria have some great individual players like Riyad Mahrez, who can hurt you, but we only have to focus on ourselves and we will be good", he said.
