Netflix gets its game on with 'Stranger Things'

On June 12, Netflix's official twitter account for gaming related topics released details about a slew of Stranger Things games coming out soon.

Our core focus will be to deliver on Stranger Things' rich and intense themes like friendship and supernatural adventure, and translate these into snack-sized entertainment on your mobile device. As with previous cross-over events, there will likely be new skins and items to buy as well as a new list of challenges and rewards to earn. If that's simply too far away for you then one of Netflix's other Stranger Things game is due out on July 4. Well, through location-based tech and Google Maps integration, you'll be able to explore The Upside Down with your pals.

Stranger Things is scheduled to be released in 2020, on iOS and Android. While we wait for the new season of the hit series, which comes back to Netflix next month, we can get in the throwback mood by perusing Nike x Stranger Things.

There is no version of the world where I am trying not to acknowledge one of the greatest films ever made. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose.

Netflix and video games have cross-pollinated before.

That Netflix is starting to leverage the success of one of its most popular shows shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Lee did reveal, though, that "Stranger Things" will be popping up in "Fortnite" on the heels of an "easter egg" recently spotted in the battle royale video game sensation. Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven on the show, wasn't pleased that her character was unavailable to play in the first Stranger Things game until you unlock her character at the end, according to Dave Pottinger, CEO of BonusXP, the game's developer.
