Mozilla to launch Firefox Premium

The new browser will arrive this fall and will require a subscription.

The web browser received a major refresh back in 2017 with the release of Firefox Quantum.

Mozilla plans to launch a "premium" version of Firefox with a built-in VPN, secure cloud storage, and more. But Mozilla promises it won't charge for features that are already free. Details are slim for now, but it sounds like it will come with a number of features that will protect users and their data while they browse.

"The "Firefox" you've always known as a browser is stretching to cover a family of products and services united by putting you and your privacy first", Mozilla creative director Tim Murray said.

Extremely Powerful Sun 'Superflares' Could Disrupt Electronics Across the Globe
The spacecraft launched in 2009, and its goal was to seek out planets circling stars that are very far from Earth . The superflare would be hundreds or thousands of times more powerful than the most active solar flares recorded.

The company previously teamed up with ProtonVPN in an effort to diversify its revenue, the vast majority of which has traditionally been made from selling its default search engine setting. Its "premium" browser is the next step.

Mozilla plans to launch a new subscription service named Firefox Premium, Mozilla CEO Chris Beard said in an interview with T3N. We also recognize that there are consumers who want access to premium offerings, and we can serve those users too without compromising the development and reach of the existing products and services that Firefox users know and love. It's still unclear if there will be only one subscription service encompassing all the premium features, or of each feature will be a separate subscription. Firefox Lockbox is its own in-house password manager, Firefox Send is its in-house file sharing service, and Firefox Reality is its VR web browser for platforms including Oculus, Vive, and Daydream. We aim for October. Would you pay for a premium VPN/cloud experience bundled into your Firefox?

Expect to hear more news about pricing and the cloud storage feature over the coming months.
