Huawei Delays Launch of New Windows Laptop Due to US Ban

It is the first time USA sanctions on Huawei have affected the release of a device made by the company.

Huawei was reportedly planning to release the new laptop this week, but an executive said the company canceled the launch due to usa sanctions against the company. "We can not supply the PC", he said.

The reason most likely lies in the boycott of American companies against Huawei, which is the result of the trade ban imposed by the United States government. The company was convinced that it could become the world's biggest-selling smartphone vendor in 2019 even without the USA market.

Although Huawei is traditionally focused on selling telecom equipment, the company ventured into consumer electronics in 2018, offering a range of smartphones, tablets and wearable devices.

The agency said the decision stems from a review of information showing that there is a "reasonable basis to conclude that Huawei is engaged in activities that are contrary to US national security or foreign policy interest".

This final rule also adds to the Entity List sixty-eight non-U.S. affiliates of Huawei located in twenty-six destinations: "Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Burma, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, Germany, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Madagascar, Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and Vietnam". US intelligence agencies have been issuing warnings (though with little publicly released evidence) that it was secretly funded by, and its telecom gear could be bugged by Chinese security and intelligence services.

Huawei has repeatedly rejected the accusations of United States intelligence agencies that it installs "backdoor" access to its devices at the behest of the Chinese government to help Beijing spy on users. Reports earlier this week claimed that Huawei was halting its notebook projects. Huawei has indefinitely postponed announcing a new model in its MateBook laptop series, which had been scheduled to makes its debut at CES Asia 2019 in Shanghai.

The US has banned sales of technology to Huawei, which uses Intel chips and the Windows operating system in its MateBook PCs. The Global Times wrote that "industry insiders" called Huawei's plan to release the laptop "an inspiring move".
