But they were left breathing a huge sigh of relief when referee Craig Pawson overturned a decision to give the home side a penalty with 12 minutes to go, after Jayden Bogle and Jack Harrison collided in the box.

"I did not have a clear view of the penalty".

The midfielder was only introduced into the fray following a first half injury to Adam Forshaw, but has now given Marcelo Bielsa a selection headache ahead of the return at Elland Road.

"For the linesman to decide by himself and for the referee to accept that decision, making him completely wrong, is really hard to understand".

"I'm not standing here and saying it was a clear penalty; I've looked at it and it's probably right in the middle. The linesman will say he thought it wasn't [clear], but the referee gave it, so work that one out".

The teams meet at Elland Road in Wednesday's second leg.
