Bill implementing Brexit deal to be introduced in early June

Bill implementing Brexit deal to be introduced in early June

The Brexit Party will present a "full slate" of policy ideas once next week's European elections are over, Nigel Farage has pledged, as he ramped up his attacks on the BBC following a bad-tempered television interview on Sunday.

"There has however been a lack of progress, and talks could even collapse".

The elections to the European Parliament will be held on May 23-26.

But if Britain is still a member of the EU when the new European Parliament convenes on July 2, they will have to be seated.

The Prime Minister was warned by senior Conservatives that she risks losing the "loyal middle" of the Tory party if she gives ground on the issue.

Former Brexit secretary David Davis called on May to abandon cross-party talks with Labour.

Thirteen of May's former cabinet colleagues as well as Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 Committee of Conservative lawmakers, wrote to May on Tuesday to ask her not to agree to Labour's demand for a post-Brexit customs union with the EU.

Assange was sentenced to 50 weeks in prison in the United Kingdom for skipping bail in order to not be extradited to Sweden. The action comes a month after Assange was evicted from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London , where he had been holed up.

At the weekend, shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer said a "significant number, probably 120 if not 150" of Labour MPs would not back deal without a "confirmatory vote". May has said she will step down once the first phase of Brexit is complete.

The Theresa May government has been exploring reaching a consensus position with Labour after the withdrawal agreement was voted down thrice in the House of Commons by many Conservative rebels as well as opposition MPs.

Farage has been campaigning for an immediate no-deal Brexit that would see Britain cut ties with the European Union without a trade deal in place, regardless of the economic or political consequences for Britain, including Scotland opting for independence.

"We can not ever allow again a great democratic exercise like this to be railroaded aside by career politicians of the Labour and Tory parties". Others are adamant that such a vote must be the feature of any deal.

"And the whole problem why David Cameron left us in the most horrendous lurch was because we had an ill-defined vote with no real definition of what would go on afterwards, and that is why we are in this political impasse now".

Matt Shaddick (Ladbrokes Politics): Whatever happens, the results will probably be forgotten quite quickly, as the elections are likely to be written off as a meaningless exercise, certainly by the losers.
