Arthur character Mr. Ratburn comes out as gay and gets married

The next shot is of Mr Ratburn and Patrick strolling arm-in-arm down the aisle to cello music.

Fortunately, this time around, Arthur's recent nod to the LGBTQ2 community was celebrated by thousands of fans and gay-rights advocates over social media.

In the episode "Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone", the title character's third grade teacher marries another male character.

He's been the teacher to Arthur, Buster and Francine for years but outside of the classroom - and his love of cake - not much has been known about Mr Ratburn's personal life.

The animated children's series Arthur entered its 22nd season with a celebration in an episode titled "Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone".

Another Twitter user, an actor, writer and "gay internet person", was clearly happy with the coming out, calling it his "Game of Thrones finale".

United ends mediocre season with home loss
Borussia Dortmund star, Jadon Sancho, has finally decided not to leave the club for Manchester United this summer transfer window. The big news comes in attack, with Mason Greenwood making his full Premier League debut for Manchester United.

The heartwarming episode was well received by viewers who praised PBS on Twitter for incorporating a gay character into the children's show.

But not everyone was impressed with the broadcast. PBS Kids really is that b****. And someone on Facebook called it "grooming kids and wrong".

Former Education Secretary Margaret Spellings spoke in opposition to the PBS program at the time and said that not all parents would want their children exposed to an LGBT lifestyle.

And what about the timing of the event?

On this week's Arthur season premiere, Arthur and the gang learn that their teacher, Mr. Ratburn, is getting married, which they think is "wrong" because "teachers don't get married!"
