US President Donald Trump 'strongly looking' at releasing migrants in Democratic cities

Rick Scott said Sunday that President Donald Trump's threat to place immigrants into so-called sanctuary cities might just be the President trying to "make everybody insane".

He says despite Trump's "disgraceful" use of people as "tools for political retribution", Philadelphia would "welcome these immigrants just as we have embraced our immigrant communities for decades".

On Friday, the President tweeted that he is giving "serious consideration" to sending "illegal immigrants" into sanctuary cities.

"Instead of passing comprehensive immigration reform he does this: White House proposed releasing immigrant detainees in sanctuary cities, targeting political foes", Klobuchar said on Twitter.

They told The Associated Press that President Donald Trump considered the proposal amid his ongoing battling Democrats over border wall funding.

The term "sanctuary city" is a broad term generally taken to refer to locales that have limited cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, and numerous largest cities in the country have such policies in place.

Representative Bennie Thompson of MS, who chairs the House Homeland Security committee, said it "serves as a reminder that the Trump administration's reckless immigration agenda is not about keeping the country safe, but about partisan politics and wantonly inflicting cruelty".

Luis Garza, executive director of Comunidades Unidas, said it's "very concerning" to see the White House consider the plan, though not surprising.

Mayors of several sanctuary cities said Friday they would accept undocumented migrants.

100 years of Jallianwala Bagh: How the massacre unfolded
As her Majesty, the Queen said before visiting Jallianwala Bagh 1997, it is a distressing example of our past history with India. Amritsar's Jallianwala Bagh was a desolate piece of land partly used for dumping garbage.

So what exactly are sanctuary cities?

The Washington Post reported Thursday night that about the plans, disclosed in emails released to the Post and the New York Times.

In another development Friday, CNN reported that Trump told the head of Customs and Border Protection, Kevin McAleenan, that he would pardon him if he were sent to jail for denying USA entry to migrants.

"The only way we're going to fully address the current illegal immigration crisis is by the president and leaders of both parties putting politics aside and working on a legislative solution", he said.

"The American people have resoundingly rejected this administration's toxic anti-immigrant policies", she added, "and Democrats will continue to advance immigration policies that keep us safe and honor our values".

The most powerful elected Democrat, House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, railed against the plan. "Using human beings - including little children - as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable, and in some cases, criminal".

ICE Deputy Director Matt Albence denied that the White House pressured immigration officials to implement the idea.

"A source familiar with discussions told Fox News that Democrats who advocate leniency toward illegal immigrants should work with the administration to find ways to transport those set for release, including in their states and districts", Fox News reported.
