Prosecutors to quiz Amazon chief Jeff Bezos on Saudi claim

Bezos says the Enquirer threatened to publish explicit photographs of him unless he stopped investigating how the magazine obtained private texts between Bezos and his mistress.

Eventually, prosecutors signed a non-prosecution agreement with AMI during the Cohen probe and the company committed that it would provide cooperation in the future and stay out of trouble.

Messages were sent to AMI seeking comment Thursday.

Walmart is punching back after Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos on Thursday challenged other retailers to match or exceed the ecommerce giant's minimum wage for workers, which it moved to hike last fall to $15 an hour. A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation declined to comment.

Since February, prosecutors have been examining Bezos's claim that the publisher attempted to extort him after he sought to determine how the National Enquirer gained access to private texts he exchanged with a woman named Lauren Sanchez, with whom he was having an extramarital affair.

The Washington Post reported yesterday that America Media Inc. was looking to unload its beleaguered tabloid, the National Enquirer.

Canada to reject refugees with claims in other countries
The asylum seeker would no longer be entitled to an oral hearing and the claim could not be appealed to an independent tribunal. In Canada, Samatar received legal aid and was able to prove his refugee claim at an Immigration and Refugee Board hearing.

During the 2016 election, the company assisted Trump's presidential campaign by paying $150,000 to Playboy centerfold Karen McDougal for the rights to her story about an alleged affair with Trump and then burying the story. The Associated Press reported past year that Pecker kept a safe that held documents on hush money payments and killed stories, including records on ones involving Trump. "As of today, it is unclear to what degree, if any, AMI was aware of the details".

A spokesman for the publisher has said "American Media does not have, nor have we ever had, any editorial or financial ties to Saudi Arabia".

In an open letter to the Amazon leadership, which was signed by 4,074 Amazon workers, they said Amazon has the resources and scale to fight climate change, which they called "an existential threat". "There was no involvement by any other third party whatsoever".

The sale, if it does happen, would likely not be welcomed by president Trump, a friend of AMI CEO David Pecker and a big fan of the supermarket staple.

According to CNN, Bezos could meet with federal officials as soon as this week to hand over his personal electronic devices for examination.
