Holy Week begins this morning with the observance of Palm Sunday, when Christians carry palm branches to recall the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem before his crucifixion. The day celebrates Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem riding on a donkey days before he was crucified, he added. Israeli officials reported an estimated 15,000 people took part in the procession. The pope called on young people not to be ashamed to show their enthusiasm for Jesus but at the same time not to fear following "him on the way to the cross".
