Kim expresses willingness to hold third summit with Trump

Andy Kim of New Jersey and Ro Khanna of California - sent the letter on Thursday as Trump met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the White House.

Speaking to a session of North Korea's rubber-stamp parliament, Kim also said he is open to meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump "one more time", but only if the U.S. changes its attitude, according to North Korean state media. "I think that sanctions right now are at a level that's a fair level". He added that he wants the sanctions to stay on for now.

He said he was open to discussing smaller steps, such as helping to ease North Korea's humanitarian problems, but that, in general, the US wants sanctions to remain. But between now and then, Trump seems unwilling to give them anything even for smaller deals.

All eyes are now on whether Washington will move to revive the stalled talks following Kim's speech.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday criticized the South Korean government's attempts to mediate and facilitate nuclear negotiations between Pyongyang and Washington, instead calling on Seoul to work towards the "interests of the nation".

South Korea's Blue House said in a statement that officials would "do what we can in order to maintain the current momentum for dialogue and help negotiations between the USA and North Korea resume at an early date". "(North Korea) to its knees". "And also, you have made sure that North Korea does not deviate from the dialogue track".

Kim, who has recently pledged to build a "powerful socialist economy", asked the United States to ease economic sanctions, arguing it has already started to implement concrete measures toward denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula. But they haven't formally abandoned diplomacy. Moon met Kim three times previous year.

Chevron to acquire Anadarko Petroleum for $33 billion (CVX press release)
Chevron's Permian production of oil, natural gas and associated liquids hit 16.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) in 2018. The company said will boost its share repurchase rate by US$1 billion to US$5 billion per year upon closing of the deal.

Trump has also expressed opposition to providing Pyongyang with interim concessions, saying sanctions against North Korea will remain in place and that he is against the idea of the resumption of inter-Korean economic cooperation projects in the near future.

Kim said the United States is hinting at holding a third DPRK-U.S. Summit, but what happened in Hanoi "is not inviting" to the DPRK.

But he went on to say: "We are willing to give another try if the U.S. offers to have a third summit with the right attitude and mutually acceptable terms". There is ongoing debate over whether harsh sanctions can pressure Kim to denuclearize or will keep him away from the negotiating table. South Korean media has speculated he will take the blame for the unsuccessful Hanoi summit. He cited a United Nations panel of experts that warned on March 5 that there has been a "massive increase in illegal ship-to-ship transfers of petroleum products and coal" rendering the latest United Nations sanctions "ineffective".

"The U.S. has set up negotiations exclusively on non-realizable methods".

The Nationalsaw the North Korean shakeup as a generational shift, with numerous outgoing officials in their 70s, 80s, or even older. In the months leading up to the talks, Pyongyang froze its nuclear and ballistic missile tests and demolished the only known nuclear test site.

But the lack of substantial disarmament commitments from the North and the deepening impasse in nuclear negotiations have raised doubts on whether Kim would ever voluntarily relinquish an arsenal he may see as his strongest guarantee of survival.
