Fordham University Mourning Death Of Student

School officials are investigating how Monfries and her friends gained access to the tower.

"There are no words sufficient to describe the loss of someone so young and full of promise-and mere weeks from graduation", McShane wrote in the email.

Monfries lost her footing and fell about 30 or 40 feet, officials said.

The Fordham University student newspaper even featured quotes from students who had climbed to the peak of the tower.

Monfries flat-lined at the scene but was revived and rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was placed on life support. "I think a large part of the reason people want to do this so badly is that the school doesn't allow it", said Patrick Burke, Fordham College at Rose Hill '14.

However the tower is off-limits to students and should have been locked, though there is now no information on whether the tower was unlocked or if the lock had been tampered with.

A senior at Fordham University died on Sunday after falling from a clock tower on campus.

Fiji hoisted the Cup last weekend in Hong Kong. "We got into another final, so we're doing something right" Baber said. Fiji still progressed as runners-up to unbeaten South Africa in Pool A.

The accident occurred early in the morning before Fordham's annual Spring Preview event for admitted students.

A student whose friend was in the group said, "He told me some seniors went to the tower to take some pictures and have a good time before graduating".

"You have to ride the ram", she said of a statue on campus, adding that students also "have to go into the tunnels underground and you have to go into the bell tower".

"There was a huge spiral staircase going up, and we couldn't even see the top".

"It's scary, it's risky and I really feel bad for the person", Emma Azizo, a Fordham student, told WABC. "Over the years, a very small number of students have been found in the area, and the circumstances have usually been simple curiosity", the dean, Christopher Rodgers said. A bright student according to Fordham University staff, Monfries studied journalism and was an intern at InStyle Magazine with a promising future.

University president Joseph M McShane told NBC New York Ms Monfries would be awarded her degree posthumously.
