Dialed in? Sixers caught with cellphone on bench

Joel Embiid said he has "no idea" whether he'll play in the Philadelphia 76ers' first-round playoff game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, he told media Friday. Johnson showed Embiid whatever message was on the phone and then slid it into the pocket of his warmup trousers.

Embiid said after the game that Johnson's daughter is sick and they were just getting an update on her.

"I take full responsibility and will accept the consequences of my actions". "I also apologize to my teammates, the 76ers organization and the fans for the distraction this has caused".

Johnson was not active for the game, but still isn't allowed to have his phone during a game.

Sixers general manager Elton Brand said the team has fined Johnson for detrimental conduct.

It is a Champions League game and we know we can hurt them as well as they can hurt us. The Red Devils are facing West Ham this afternoon.

ESPN cameras even caught reserve Amir Johnson checking his phone in the middle of the game.

At least there's always Game 2, right?

For the playoffs, we will include a grade for head coach Brett Brown's performance (found at the bottom).

Brown said he would deal with Johnson, but he declined to address any specific discipline.

Johnson was inactive. Embiid scored 22 points and had 15 rebounds.
