Claressa Shields v Christina Hammer: 'The biggest fight in women's boxing history'

It's the eve of the victor take all middleweight boxing bout between dual champions Christina Hammer (24-0, 11 KOs) and Claressa Shields (8-0, 2 KOs).

Top American heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin will take on former No. 1-ranked US amateur Rydell Booker in the 10-round co-featured bout while undefeated Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin will battle highly decorated amateur Nick Kisner in a 10-round clash that will open the tripleheader. Everyone talks about how good Claressa Shields is. I went to the doctor and he told me I can't fight in November.

"It's always pressure when you fight, it's normal", Hammer said. Ive checked all the boxes for this fight. The conditioning, the nutrition, the training, everything.

"I'm very focused. I know that this is a historic fight".

Franklin will be looking to record the 18th victory of his professional career, after nine months without a fight.

"It's very important to make an impression".

Since the Hammer fight was announced in September, Shields has secured decision wins against Hannah Rankin and Femke Hermans to successfully defend her IBF, WBA and WBC belts. Im going to let her know she wont control this fight in any aspect.

Claressa Shields works out Thursday in anticipation of Saturday's bout with Christina Hammer.

"I'm happy that everyone came out for this event and has supported it". I love that she has an accomplished record. If shes not as strong as she says she is, shes going to want to get out of there.

Earlier this week, Shields suggested the fight would be a milestone for women's boxing.

Go to Wine Country with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph
Netflix released a trailer on Thursday for the upcoming movie directed by Amy Poehler and starring several of her friends. Former SNL writers Emily Spivey and Liz Cackowski co-wrote the screenplay from a story they developed with Amy Poehler .

Shields' has previously criticized the amount of movement Hammer utilizes around the ring nicknaming her "Mover". This fight is bigger than me.”. He's prepared me well with good sparring.

The fight this weekend represents the only competitive match up to look forward to really - with the men's action this weekend seeing heavy favorites expecting to win easily across the board. "I have great footwork and my goal is to beat her badly". She'll have UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and boxing star Errol Spence Jr. walk her to the ring on Saturday night. Shields is beatable. Hanna Gabriels showed that. Weve analyzed her a lot and Ive known for a long time that I would one day fight her. She says, "you have only one jab". Why would I be scared of her? It shows them we have worked hard to get here and you can also do it working just as hard. "I've pushed myself so hard because I know Claressa is a hard opponent".

“I hope that a lot of women will be inspired by this fight. We work hard, [but] we get less money and less recognition. I see a guy in Booker that likes to slow the pace and try to control the distance. I think this fight is going to be a game-changer for women's boxing. I will capitalize on his weaknesses.

“I want to fight the best. Its a great time to be a heavyweight and I feel like it will be my time soon. Having campaigned nearly exclusively as a cruiserweight, don't expect him to be able to live with the physicality of his southpaw opponent. My uncles trained me in boxing when I was 13.

“I have a gift that a lot of fighters dont have. He taught us to move, to punch, to do push-ups, run and stuff like that. I have the ability to be an effective counter-puncher and I can fight when I need to.

CH: It was an excellent experience for me. I'm all about the sport. Im used to the training.

CH: I feel it is the biggest of all time because of what me and Claressa have done and because of everyone talking about it so much.

“Sweden needs a boxing superstar that stands out, and I want to be that person. Christina Hammer is really good, too.

Nick Kisner “I sought this fight. "The people want to see a great fight". It was frustrating at times because it was one against one, but then I realized I was better than them. This is a great opportunity. "I never told her something about her family".
