A New Star Wars VR Game Has You Working For Darth Vader

Vader Immortal, the VR Star Wars series that Oculus and ILMxLAB are putting together with the help of Hellblade dev Ninja Theory, got a new trailer yesterday that teases its story and shows us our first proper glimpse of lightsaber combat. "You'll see what I mean the moment you fire up a lightsaber and wield it in your hands".

I'm not expecting a mind-blowing VR experience, but it looks neat enough, and given where Star Wars is at right now in gaming, that feels significant.

Vader Immortal is a three-part VR series set within the Star Wars universe. It's ideal for VR. Meanwhile, David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Secrets of the Empire) is on board as the writer and executive produce. In an effort to escape from Vader's home planet of Mustafar, players must wield a lightsaber and face droids, Stormtroopers, and Vader himself. "You're the lead character", said director Ben Snow. "“Maya truly was the first person we thought of, right from the very beginning, and her contributions and sense of humor have guided ZOE3 every step of the way".

Vader Immortal will be the launch title for the Oculus Quest headset, and the series will also be coming to the Oculus Rift family of headsets as well, including the upcoming Rift S. If the goal of ILMxLAB is to let fans completely lose themselves in a galaxy far, far away and interact with Star Wars characters like never before, the Vader Immortal demo felt like a pretty significant step in that direction.

Children Dead, Several People Hurt in Strong Texas Storms
Multiple people were injured and several homes were damaged in Hamilton, Mississippi, said Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley. According to the National Weather Service , the tornado was rain-wrapped and moved through Milam into Robertson County.

"Oculus Quest unlocks new ways to create".

During a panel at Star Wars Celebration Chicago, the team announced that acclaimed actress and comedian Maya Rudolph will star as ZOE3, a quick-witted droid co-pilot that audiences will partner with throughout the story. Meanwhile, the unit's new Oculus Insight technology is able to track a user's position in real time through the use of four integrated ultra wide-angle sensors and computer vision algorithms.

ILMxLab announced Vader Immortal alongside the Oculus Quest back in September, but now the game will be coming to the Rift as well.
