Mike Thalassitis: Former Love Island star dies aged 26

Love Island star Mike Thalassitis has passed away at the age of 26.

According to the Daily Mail, the former reality star was found dead on Friday in his hometown of Essex.

Mike rose to fame on 2017's Love Island, where he landed the nickname "Muggy Mike", before going on to make magazine headlines for his relationship with The Only Way Is Essex's Megan McKenna.

Several reality TV stars posted tributes to Thalassitis.

He dated The Only Way Is Essex star Megan McKenna before splitting up previous year, and had appeared on the series Celebs Go Dating in 2018. Mike you absolute gent. I can't put into words how much this hurts and doesn't feel real. His name was Mike Thalassitis, and every inch of my heart goes out to his family & friends.

He was found dead in the woods, and his cause of death remains unknown.

Mike went on to couple up with Tyla Carr, but was voted off the show after another five-day stint. I'm in shock. Mike you are going to be sorely sorely missed. "In fact I don't even quite believe it yet as I spoke to him yesterday".

This is the second time within the past year that such an incident involving a Chiefs player has come to light. Following his arrest, Hill was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football and track and field teams.

Alex Bowen and Rachel Fenton, who both also appeared on Love Island, tweeted their respects.

Fenton tweeted: "I'm lost for words". My heart and soul and love goes out to his friends & family.

And Bowen wrote: "I can't get my head round this RIP brother". "Once again thank you so much and let's try to give dan the best send off him and his family deserve".

Footballer Joel Byrom, who played with Thalassitis at Stevenage, tweeted: "Shocked and gutted to hear about this".

James Jordan posted: "My heart goes out to his family and friends at this hard time".

He also appeared on Channel 4's "Celebs Go Dating" in 2018.
