Full House actor released on bail in college cheating scam

The episode revolves around Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky's attempts to get their twins, Nicky and Alex, into Bouton Hall, "the best pre-school in the Bay Area".

In the 26-year-old episode, Loughlin's character, Becky Katsopolis, faced a dilemma. When she discovers what her husband has done, she decides to tell the school the truth.

"Nicky and Alex are normal, healthy kids and whatever track they're on, they seem to be doing OK", she says.

When the application asks for the children's abilities, Becky's husband Jesse outright lies.

The difference between real life and the family friendly sitcom is that at the end of the 30-minute episode, Jesse and Becky learned their lesson and came clean about lying on the application. They also allegedly did the same for their younger daughter, who enrolled at USC last fall.

"They're really great people, and you kind of just go, 'I'm really so confused by all of this, '" Richards confessed. As the "Operation Varsity Blues" investigation showed, cheating on the SAT is a real problem, and "Full House" brought that scenario to the small screen in a 1994 episode called "The Test".

This week, as the college admissions scandal dominated the headlines, late night comedians and social media memes have poked fun at the parents involved - especially Loughlin and actress Felicity Huffman, two of the most high-profile defendants.

She was charged with paying $500,000 in bribes to get her two daughters admitted into the University of South California as fake rowing team recruits.

"Full House" was a common reference for people making fun of Loughlin, with one user joking that she was headed to the 'Big House'.

Huffman was released on a $250,000 bail on Wednesday.

Jesse "embellishes" both the twins' and his own credentials, a scam that's undone when Becky admits the scheme to the preschool's admissions officer. "They're saying this could be the Becky with the Good Hair that Beyoncé warned us about", he said.

Ben Dreyfuss, the son of Richard Dreyfuss, appeared to harp on nepotism and commented: 'I got into college the old fashioned way: by letting my father's celebrity speak for itself'.
