Disney reinstates James Gunn on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Disney reinstates James Gunn on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Gunn's reinstatement, first reported by Deadline, comes after he had already been signed to direct another major movie: The sequel to "Suicide Squad", a DC Comics property that will be released by Warner Bros. "As I have discussed publicly many times, as I've developed as a person, so has my work and my humor". "At the end of the day, he was making jokes and he was being provocative and he was looking for that shock value, but they were just jokes". I truly felt sorry and meant every word of my apologies. "I know this is a weird statement to make, and seems obvious, but, still, here I am, saying it".

According to a report from Deadline, after Gunn was sacked, he met several times with Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn on several occasions.

Gunn earlier apologized for the tweets, which he called "unfortunate efforts to be provocative". The director tweeted in response and owned up to his mistakes.

According to the MailOnline, all of the tweets were posted before Gunn joined the Marvel Universe in 2014.

Disney reportedly made the decision a few months ago after speaking with Marvel Studios. There's also a rumor that Dave Bautista could play Peacemaker.

And regardless of whether Gunn would of been directing, Pratt said in February that the film would be going forward using Gunn's script. This would be confirmed by Kevin Feige later in the month.

Last summer, Disney fired James Gunn as the director of Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 after right-wing commentators unearthed offensive social media posts the filmmaker wrote years ago.

The Hollywood Reporter said Gunn plans to continue working on both that film and the third "Guardians" movie.

According to Fleming's report, Horn actually made a decision to rehire Gunn "months ago", and Marvel "never met with or considered any other director" for the third "Guardians" installment.
