Toronto Raptors reportedly acquire Marc Gasol

Whether he can still reach the heights of peak Gasol, a player the Raptors had eyes on over the years according to intermittent reports, is of more debate.

Gasol, 34, has been a franchise cornerstone for the Grizzlies, but was made available a couple weeks back.

A fan favourite in Toronto, Valanciunas showed flashes of promise with the Raptors but never fully materialized into a dominant centre.

It is a power move for Toronto, as it looks to improve its roster as it vies with Philadelphia and Milwaukee, among others, in the Eastern Conference.

Ranieri felt his players lacked the composure at 1-0 down to get themselves back into the game against such talented opposition. Since Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] came in we talked about this, we want to be at the top, in the top four.

The Grizzlies, however, kept Mike Conley after discussing deals for their franchise point guard with multiple teams. The 34-year-old Gasol is a three-time National Basketball Association all-star who is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals a game in 2018. In 53 games, Conley has averaged 20.4 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 6.4 assists per game - all in the top-three for his career.

The 31-year-old Miles is averaging 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in the 2018-19 campaign. Valanciunas is a solid player, but he doesn't make much sense for the Grizzlies long term, and neither does Miles.
