Terrorists target IRGC bus in southeastern Iran

State-run IRNA news agency, citing what it described as an "informed source", reported the attack on the Guard in Iran's Sistan and Baluchistan province. It described the passengers as "shift personnel", but didn't provide any details of their rank.

The so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group reportedly claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Meanwhile, the IRGC Qods Base has issued a statement, condemning the attack as a revenge for the failure of the foreign plots in the aftermath of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted.

The attack happened in Iran's port city of Chabahar which has been emerging as economic hub between the regional countries. While Jaish al Adl and other groups like it are not regarded as a major security threat, the attack is a fresh blow to the image of the Guards, the most powerful force in Iran, which reports directly to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. At least 18 people were killed and more than 50 wounded.

An attack by gunmen on a military parade in the city of Ahvaz last autumn killed at least 25 people, including 12 members of the Guards.

Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, described the conference convened by the United States as the Warsaw Circus, and said it was "no coincidence that Iran is hit by terror on the very day" that the talks began.

Jaish al-Adl emerged as the main armed opposition movement in the southeast after members of another Sunni group, Jundullah, joined it after their leader was captured on a plane in 2010.

However, a bombing like this inside of Iran likely will draw an immediate reaction from the Guard, a massive paramilitary organization that both controls Iran's ballistic missile program and vast chunks of its economy.

The group's Quds Force unit said the United States, its allies and Zionism shared responsibility for the attack, without elaborating on the claim.

"Especially when cohorts of same terrorists cheer it from Warsaw streets & support it with twitter bots?" President Donald Trump, who campaigned on a promise of tearing up Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers, withdrew the US from the accord last May.

Iranian border guards have repeatedly come under attacks by terror outfits active on the Pakistani soil.

Zarif earlier predicted the Warsaw summit would not be productive for the U.S.
