Online, mobile banking down for Wells Fargo customers due to intermittent outages

Wells Fargo officials said smoke was detected at a facility prompting them to shut down its system.

The bank apologized to customers for any inconvenience caused by the system issues, and said it would reverse any Wells Fargo fees incurred as a result of the issues.

Wells Fargo customers from all over the US have been reporting that multiple services offered by the multinational financial services company's banking branch, with credit cards, ATMs, money transfers, and the online banking system all being down for most clients. As of 10 a.m., online banking services remained unavailable.

Customers complained on social media that they could not get into their Wells Fargo accounts online all morning, and some learned the hard way when their cards were declined.

- Wells Fargo customers experienced issues with accessing online or mobile banking as well as other banking services nationwide, after a fire happened at one of the bank's data centers.

The company on Twitter apologized to its customers and asked for patience while it once again sorted out the issue.

Dozens of comments posted beneath the announcement demanded answers and additional information.
