Music's top stars set for Grammys gala

While last year's show was held in NY - for the first time since 2003 - the 61st Grammys are back in Los Angeles. This week Ariana Grande blasted Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich and accused him of lying about why she was no longer performing at the show. In addition to other general field categories, Glover, Drake and Lamar all earned record of the year nominations for This Is America, God's Plan and All the Stars, respectively.

The Grammys' tense relationship with the hip-hop community goes back decades.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake are the two top nominated artists (Lamar leads Drake with eight noms to seven). "As much as I'm nominated, I would not be anything without the village of women who are walking into their truth", she said. "Know that I support you - win or lose", Monae said.

Carlile told the AP she stands "behind Ariana Grande's decision to stand up for herself and her art". In 1989, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff boycotted the show after they learned that the presentation of the best rap performance award wouldn't be televised, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Monae hosted the Friday brunch alongside Instagram to celebrate her Grammy nominations, including album of the year for her groundbreaking release, "Dirty Computer".

Ehrlich, in The Times interview, acknowledged that the Grammys "continue to have a problem in the hip-hop world".

The reigning champions are 13 points clear at the top with a game in hand on second-placed Lille, who visit Guingamp on Sunday. After he left the pitch, it was more hard for us to control the game. "No, I don't have good news", he told Canal Plus.

Lady Gaga's "Shallow" just keeps winning this awards season, picking up a Grammy on Sunday before competing for other major awards later in the day. A representative for the Grammys didn't return an email seeking clarification about the tribute.

The Grammys have also struggled with gender inequality, an issue that came to its head previous year.

Janelle Monae remembers being frustrated last year, but this year she is looking forward to the show, where women are now leading in nominations for big categories like album of the year and best new artist.

When asked about the lack of women in the top categories at the 2018 Grammys, Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow said women need to "step up". Taylor Swift, who was snubbed and scored one nomination, also won't be at the show. Weeks later, the academy announced that it had hired Tina Tchen, a lawyer and Michelle Obama's former chief of staff, to head a new task force on inclusion and diversity.

Late night host James Corden, the host of the 2017 and 2018 Grammys, will be getting a rest this year, as 15-time Grammy Award victor Alicia Keys will be hosting.
