Jussie Smollett's neighbors cast doubt on his attack story

Jussie Smollett's neighbors cast doubt on his attack story

Actor Jussie Smollett on Tuesday dismissed any suggestion that he has been less than cooperative with police since the star of the "Empire" television drama reported he was attacked by two masked men in Chicago last month.

Since the January 29 incident, Chicago police have not been able to identify any legitimate suspects in the case or find any surveillance video capturing the attack on film. All of these inconsistent reports have prompted some to say Smollett fabricated the attack.

"We obviously can't use redacted records, we have to have the whole record to show it wasn't tampered with at all", Guglielmi said. Jussie has voluntarily provided his phone records from within an hour of the attack and given multiple statements to police.

Smollett has now reportedly released a heavily redacted record of his calls to police however, police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said the records "are not sufficient and do not meet the burden of a criminal investigation", according to the Chicago Tribune.

Smollett, who is black and openly gay, told police that his attackers doused him with an unknown chemical substance, shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him before looping what police said was a thin rope tied like a noose around his neck.

"I've been in this neighborhood five years".

Katy Perry's shoe collection pulls two styles over blackface controversy
Singer Katy Perry 's shoe brand, Katy Perry Collections , has come under fire for designs that resemble "blackface". However, TMZ reported once Katy became aware of the uproar, she made the decision to remove the shoes.

"I don't believe it happened the way he said it did", Agin Muhammad, who lives in the same apartment complex as the actor, told the Post. "Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served".

"We don't believe this is the case at all but when anyone hands over a redacted and limited record like a PDF of a phone bill for example, those records could be manipulated". "They have cameras everywhere".

However, the Chicago Police Department appears to be dismissing the evidence because they didn't find it, "It's unclear if that is related to the incident as it was not discovered during any of the earlier canvasses but we took it for analysis".

Meanwhile, New York Post reports that residents who live in Jussie's building are giving the side-eye to his official version of events. "Why can't they find the attack".

Elgas added that Chicago police have a security image of Smollett alone inside a Subway sandwich shop near the location of the reported crime, and that cops also obtained additional video placing him at the scene of the crime.
