Jeremy Lin finalizing buyout with Hawks, to sign with Raptors

After missing all but one game of the 2017-18 season with a ruptured patella tendon, Lin has averaged 10.7 points in 19.7 minutes per game. The Air Canada Centre fans, many of whom were there to witness the so-called Linsanity, erupted in a mix of disbelief and delirium.

Lin, 30, became a household name in 2012, when a short but prolific run with the New York Knicks sparked what became known as "Linsanity".

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the veteran point guard is finalizing a buyout with the Atlanta Hawks and will sign with Toronto following the buyout according to his agents Jim Tanner and Roger Montgomery. An expiring contract brought a fair amount of rumored interest as last week's trade deadline approached, and the Hawks' initially reported stance on not doing a buyout seemingly shifted with a potential push from Lin's representation.

Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet will miss at least three weeks with a left thumb injury, the team says.

Ethan's main motivation came when a public health emergency was declared in Washington State after a measles outbreak . It was like him spitting on me, saying 'You don't know anything, I don't trust you with anything.

The three week minimum timeline likely sidelines him for the entirety of the six-game homestand for the Raptors that begins Monday night against Brooklyn.

Toronto will be his eighth employer in nine seasons in the league.

The Raptors entered Monday with a 41-16 record and second place in the Eastern Conference behind only NBA-leading Milwaukee.
