Cops probe hurling of chair from high-rise balcony

Toronto police say they have identified the woman shown in a video of a chair being thrown from a downtown condominium balcony. The woman proceeds to chuck the chair off of the balcony toward the Gardiner Expressway below.

The woman's name hasn't been released, but a spokesperson from the Toronto police confirmed to Daily Hive they believe they know her identity, however, it won't be released until the investigation is complete and any formal charges have been laid.

Hopkinson said two chairs, among other items, were thrown over the balcony. They are also looking into whether the condo unit - some 20 to 30 storeys high - was being rented out at the time of the incident.

On Monday, a video began circulating on social media that appears to show a woman dressed in black trousers, a black leather coat and black high heels tossing the chair over the balcony which is several storeys high.

Hopkinson said he obtained a copy of the video on Sunday and police began to investigate on Monday.

While the video ends before the chair his the ground, investigators said it landed at the front entrance of another condo building in the area.

The woman who threw the chair - along with other items - is wanted for mischief endanger life.
