Coke launches new flavor to keep customers from leaving it behind

Orange Vanilla Coke is the first new flavor since 2007, when the company re-released Vanilla Coke after phasing it out in 2002.

While reports suggest this is the first time the flavors will be available in the US, several people online have shared photos of the soda over the last two months claiming to have already tested it out.

Orange Vanilla Coke and Orange Vanilla Coke Zero Sugar hit store shelves on February 25.

The companies have pulled Diet Coke napkins that encouraged people to write down their phone number on them and hand them to their "plane crush", reports Fox News.

"We wanted to bring back positive memories of carefree summer days", Coke Brand Director Kate Carpenter said. "We knew we had an opportunity to give fans the variety they crave without sacrificing the Coca-Cola taste they love". They considered a few options, including raspberry, lemon, and ginger, which performs well for the company in Asia. I'm still not drinking this Orange Vanilla nonsense, though. 12-oz sleek cans of Orange Vanilla Coke and Orange Vanilla Coke Zero Sugar will be available for a limited time from March through May 2019.

There is, of course, a danger in any change to the classic Coca-Cola formula.

Orange Vanilla Coke, though, won't replace the original.
