Bucks to get Mirotic from Pelicans for two players

The Pistons are reportedly finalizing a trade to send Stanley Johnson to the Milwaukee Bucks for Thon Maker, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The Milwaukee Bucks chose to go all-in this season and make a play for Mirotic, who is averaging a career-high 16.7 points per game in the Big Easy this season. He averaged 7.5 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting just 38 percent from the field in 48 games this season.

Sometimes a change of scenery is all a player needs.

Back to the present, let's look at today's Bucks stories. Originally drafted by the Pistons with the eighth overall pick in 2015, Johnson's entry-level contract expires in 2020. He's tallied 10 games with at least 20 points, including two games with 30 or more points, and 11 double-doubles this season while knocking down multiple 3-pointers in 23 of his 32 games played.

With the Pistons (24-29) at ninth place in the East, they'll be battling for a playoff seed.

The event was scheduled to take place in Melbourne, with the 28-year-old the first Australian to hold a UFC belt. Whittaker praised Gastelum as a challenger and even called him "one of the most risky fighters to date".

His outside shooting will fill a major need for the struggling Lakers, who are the NBA's second-worst 3-point shooting team at 33.4 percent. He might be best as an undersized 4, but Milwaukee already has plenty of options there.

Milwaukee Bucks: Bidding farewell to Thon Maker (read here): In light of the deal, Jordan Treske also took some time to pen a farewell to Thon Maker, reflecting on the Australian's time in Milwaukee.

But those instances were too infrequent and now Maker has a chance for more playing time with a rebuilding Pistons team.

Johnson is a restricted free agent after this season and the Bucks will likely let him walk.
