Resident Evil 2 '1-Shot' Demo Arriving This Week

With a Resident Evil 2 release date of January 25, it's no surprise that Capcom would want to give gamers a reason to check out this remake of the 1998 game that originally debuted on the PS1. You won't be able to play the demo again once the time has expired, but you can view the trailer as much as you'd like.

The end of the small demo period will also reveal a never-before-seen cinematic trailer just for those that enjoyed their time playing the game early. The important thing is that you'll only have a half hour to do it all before you're locked out - that's why they call it the "1-Shot Demo".

"Aptly named the "1-Shot Demo" players must take on the challenge of surviving the horrors of Raccoon City in just 30 minutes".

While the demo will only last 30 minutes, players will be able to continue if they die.

"Leon must survive vicious zombies and solve puzzles to find safe passage out of the station".

It's nice to see Capcom providing a demo on PC for one of it's big titles - I'm looking at you, Devil May Cry 5 - even if it comes with a bizarrely contrived set of limitations on your playtime.

There's been no news since, but here's where things get interesting: Capcom has announced that it's hosting a "special" Resident Evil 2 livestream on that same day, Friday the 11th January. Like all demos, this playable period prior to launch will be available for a very limited amount of time. You can even save your game, giving you a chance to play through as many times as you need to fill out Nero's move list.
