Here is our first proper look at survival horror Alien Blackout

Alien Isolation was a big critical hit when it came out in 2014, so news of a sequel might come as welcome news to fans.

In Alien: Blackout, players assume the role of Amanda Ripley, trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a blood-thirsty creature.

The game will make you use the station's holographic map, along with surveillance cameras and a motion tracker, so you and the crew can navigate through the station and avoid being picked off. It appears your choices will affect how the narrative unfolds in each playthrough.

"Alien: Blackout" is a mobile game in development from FoxNext Games, D3 Go!, and Rival Games that puts players in the boots of Amanda Ripley aboard an alien-infested Weyland-Yutani space station", notes Warner Bros.in a press release. "Outsmart the flawless hunter by making perilous choices", says D3 Go's offical site for the game. Plus, Fox plans to tell more of Amanda Ripley's story across multiple mediums throughout 2019.

That followed the announcement that Amanda would star in a new mobile game called Alien: Blackout, which is due out on Google Play and the iTunes App Store on January 24.

The listing also promises different strategies and endings. While that approach may be somewhat tiresome in the form of a film with a branching narrative, it's far more inherent to the video game medium, so I expect it will work well here. Alien: Blackout consists of seven levels, the site said, though no pricing information was provided either. A lot can happen in almost six decades, and the franchise has begun to explore that era in the form of video games.
