Browns hire Freddie Kitchens: Instant analysis of Cleveland's new head coach

According to a report from's Chris Mortensen, the Browns will announce the hiring of Freddie Kitchens - who served as the team's offensive coordinator after the firings of Hue Jackson and Todd Haley - as their coach on Tuesday afternoon. With Kitchens serving as the interim offensive coordinator after Todd Haley was sacked, the Browns went 5-3 under the duo, and Baker Mayfield rapidly became one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league. Under him was Freddie Kitchens, who ascended to offensive coordinator. The Browns also interviewed former Lions head coach Jim Caldwell, Saints tight ends coach Dan Campbell, Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, and Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores for the job.

The Browns are moving quickly through the interviews for head coaches, and today a report from Ian Rapaport of NFL Network says "to his understandings" that it's down to two, one of which will eventually lead the Browns into the future. Kitchens and Austin coached together in Arizona from 2007-2009 where he was the defensive back's coach.

Kitchens and Williams kept their players focused and motivated following the mid-season coaching change and the Browns went 7-8-1 following an 0-16 season in 2017 under Jackson.

Most importantly, Kitchens helped to further Baker Mayfield's development.

The Division 2 will not launch on Steam
Reason being, regardless where you buy The Division 2 or any Ubisoft PC game for that matter, you'll end up having to use Uplay. The major incentive for publishers is that Epic would only take a 12 percent cut of the sales, whereas Steam takes 30 percent.

Despite only having eight games of coordinator experience under his belt, Kitchens has been around the National Football League for a long time.

Kitchens becomes the Browns' ninth permanent coach since 2000.

Kitchens himself was a quarterback at Alabama in the early-to-mid 1990s, and at the time of his departure he ranked fourth in the school's history in in passing yards. Gregg Williams was promoted to interim head coach, while Kitchens was bumped to offensive coordinator.
