Apple's iPhone 2019 plan: Play catch-up with Android

Apple's iPhone 2019 plan: Play catch-up with Android

According to the publication, Apple has been developing a new LCD iPhone for several months and a switch would likely prove too costly.

The iPhone XS Max is the largest handset Apple has ever launched with a 6.5-inch screen.

There will also be replacements for the existing iPhone XS and, even though it hasn't sold as well as hoped, the LCD screen touting iPhone XR.

A few days ago we saw some renders of Apple's triple rear camera system based on prototypes of the iPhone XI.

Suning announced on Friday that it would start selling the 64GB iPhone XR for $118.46 less than the device's sticker price in China.

APPLE REPORTEDLY PLANS to release a new LCD iPhone in 2019, despite the lacklustre response to the current iPhone XR.

With the exception of their haptics, Android smartphones meet and exceed Apple's smartphones on nearly front.

The firm's most expensive handset, the XS Max, will feature a triple rear camera and the lower-priced models will be equipped with a double rear camera, sources told the paper.

However, it looks set to keep an LCD model in its iPhone lineup for now, with the WSJ noting that Apple's project planning has progressed to a point where major features, like the display, can not be easily changed. Now, Reuters is reporting a discount on Apple's iPhones, particularly the iPhone XR, by retailers in China. The iPhone XR in particular, the cheapest of Apple's latest line-up, is thought to have fallen flat with consumers.

Notably, the report of Apple continuing with its trend of launching three iPhone models this year comes just days after its chief executive officer Tim Cook revised sales guidelines for the final quarter of 2018.

A Bloomberg report co-authored by noted Apple oracle Mark Gurman claims that Apple won't introduce a 5G-capable iPhone next year, and will instead "hold off until at least 2020". The smartphones could be revealed by Apple in September, when it regularly shows off its latest new models.
