Ducks erase four-goal deficit, end Capitals' streak — Sunday's National Hockey League roundup

Trailing the defending Stanley Cup champions by four in the second period, the Anaheim Ducks believed they had a chance.

Two of Anaheim's goals came on unsecured rebounds. The win streak came to a screeching halt after losing a four-goal lead halfway through the second period.

"It was mostly self-inflicted for sure", says Caps coach Todd Reirden. On top of that, he did it in only his second game back after missing two weeks due to an upper-body injury. This time they killed off only one of three.

It was a generational loss, literally.

Anaheim became the first National Hockey League team to overcome a four-goal deficit on the road to win in regulation since Colorado accomplished the feat against Florida on March 3, 1999. Alex Ovechkin said. "We thought it's done, but we can't stop playing".

"Should have shut them down there with a 5-1 lead". Jones is 7-1-0 in his career against Montreal.

"I just tried to be patient, not to rush it, because I didn't want to miss that one", he said.

Less than six minutes later, the Caps doubled their lead.

Kiefer Sherwood took the puck into the right corner of the Ducks' attacking zone and tried to feed Getzlaf in front.

Video Emerges of Kareem Hunt Involved in Third Alleged Incident
And on Tuesday, a video popped up of Hunt yelling and needing to be restrained at a night club. Now, he's a free agent, and can take calls from National Football League teams.

Minutes later, Getzlaf swung his derriere into Holtby's head, incurring a minor for goaltender interference in the process.

Nicklas Backstrom, Tom Wilson and Nic Dowd also scored for the Capitals, and John Carlson had two assists. Jacob Trouba had two assists, and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 16 shots.Marc Staal had a goal and an assist, and Chris Kreider and Jesper Fast also scored for NY.

The fourth line also got in on the action early.

Anaheim challenged, alleging that Kuznetsov was offside on the play. With Washington goalie Braden Holtby pulled away from the net, Aberg scored easily from the left side and completed the Ducks' comeback from a 5-1 deficit.

Down 5-1, Andrew Cogliano and Rakell scored even-strength goals 55 seconds apart in the second period. Both responded by saying they played "too passive" after having a four-goal lead. But Washington couldn't get out of its own way in the third.

Washington kept control throughout the opening minutes of the second. He served 16 games of his suspension.

Dmitry Orlov was called for boarding twice midway through the third period, leading to power-play goals by Aberg and Hampus Lindholm and an improbably tied game.

The month of November was good to the Washington Capitals as they only dropped 5 of their 15 games; a span that ended with a seven-game win streak that the boys in red ushered into the month of December.

The Capitals are able to generate goals and that's what they did during today's game.
