Ducks acquire right wing Daniel Sprong from Penguins for defenseman Marcus Pettersson

Now, he's gone to the Anaheim Ducks in return for defenseman Marcus Pettersson.

It's a trade between two young high-upside players, but the Penguins appear to be prioritizing defense for the time being.

Sprong, a 21-year-old forward, has four assists in 16 games this season. Pettersson has one goal in 49 games with the Ducks.

Pettersson was a second-round pick by the Ducks in the 2014 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut February 15, 2018.

Sprong generated a lot of hype in Pittsburgh coming into the season before quickly falling out of favour with head coach Mike Sullivan.

During his 2017-18 American Hockey League season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he led the club in goals, assists and points, named to the AHL All-Rookie Team and the AHL All-Star Classic.

Pettersson, a 22-year-old defenseman, has six assists, a plus-4 rating and is averaging 14:01 of ice time in 27 games.
