All 8 Cities And Stadiums Confirmed For New XFL Teams

"Football fans in the Emerald City have long had a reputation of being loud - really loud - and it's that energy and enthusiasm that convinced us that an XFL team will thrive in the Pacific Northwest at CenturyLink Field", XFL commissioner Oliver Luck said Wednesday morning. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon stated that he would spend $100 million on the league but that nothing close to what he will end up spending.

Vince thanked the cities and venues who will be XFL partners moving forward. "In 2020, St. Louis will once again have its day in the world of professional football".

The XFL is still more than a year away from its inaugural season in 2020, but the league has now signed deals to play in its eight home stadiums.

"We believe that St. Louisans will take to this new brand of reimagined football as much as they have taken to well, every WWE event that's ever been held in St. Louis", said Kitty Ratcliffe, president of Explore St. Louis, during the news conference.

Then came the Saturday night fight in March 1962, the one when the great Emile Griffith killed Benny "Kid" Paret in the ring. Note that, Stevenson held the title in 2013.

McMahon is "personally funding" the new leaugue.

McMahon and NBC first launched the XFL in February 2001. Luck says they want to listen to fans and say they already have great ideas from them. After a seven-year hiatus from the National Football League, fans got another team to support when the Los Angeles Rams moved to St. Louis in 1995 and then won the Super Bowl after the 1999 season.

The XFL will begin play in spring 2020. The AAF also has eight teams and a 10-week schedule but has targeted mid-size markets. Luck promised a quicker pace of play with the overall goal of keeping games under three hours. The league lasted just one season.
