Woman’s death aboard Princess Cruises ship may be murder, reports say

A 52-year-old American woman aboard Princess Cruises' Royal Princess ship sailing in the Caribbean on Tuesday fell to her death onto a lifeboat below.

In a brief statement sent to USA TODAY, Princess Cruises confirmed that a 52-year-old American woman died on the Royal Princess early Tuesday as it was en route to Aruba but did not discuss details of the incident.

The cruise line was "cooperating fully with the investigating authorities, including the FBI, WPLG-Ch". The ship, which was traveling between the islands of Curacao and Aruba at the time of the woman's death, is due back in Florida on Saturday, officials said. All that's known is that the cruise ship departed from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on a seven-day excursion on November 9 and is due back there on November 17, as Princess Cruises confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle. The death "was reported to the local authorities who met and boarded the ship upon arrival", read the Princess statement according to the newspaper.

The name of the victim and the man taken off the boat have not been released.
