Watch John Lewis' 2018 Christmas Advert Starring Elton John In Full

Rumours around the festive campaign are rife, with Radio X presenter Chris Moyles last week creating a spoof ad featuring the John song Rocket Man.

This year's John Lewis advert - which is hotly anticipated each year - is about the power of a gift and how it inspired, changed and influenced the course of a little boy's life, namely Elton John.

Elton John's "Your Song" is the soundtrack of the 2018 advert.

While some praised it and said it made them cry (presumedly in a good way) many have criticised the ad for being too much about Elton John and not enough about Christmas.

It tells the story of Sir Elton's career tracing it back through the decades through stadium tours and private jets before going back to him playing the piano in a pub and performing in a school recital. In the present day, Elton reflects on his life while sat at his first piano.

Google suffers service outage due to odd traffic routing
He said he suspected nation-state involvement because the traffic was effectively landing at state-run China Telecom. From there, Russian ISP providers, notably TransTelekom, also started messing with Google's IP routes.

After weeks of speculation, Sir Elton John has been confirmed as the star of John Lewis' festive visual offering.

"Think back to all of the Christmases that you have enjoyed over the years - I'm sure there is one very special gift that stands out above all others".

Having reportedly donated his £5 million fee to his charity, the Elton John Charitable Trust, Elton's husband David Furnish admitted that making the ad was an emotional experience for the star.

A "Circle of Life" nostalgic romp, the ad is a attractive tribute to Elton's life and career as the rocker continues his ongoing farewell tour and awaits the release of his biopic, Rocketman, in 2019.

The TV ad, which runs two minutes and 20 seconds, features John in the opening scene, playing "Your Song" on a piano, before his life and times flash past, and we discover that a Christmas gift he received as a boy triggered his successful career.
