The justice's nephew Daniel Stiepleman told Reuters Thursday night at the premiere of "On the Basis of Sex", a movie about Justice Ginsburg's early career, his aunt was "doing great". "I can't promise they were good jokes but they were jokes", he said.

The supreme court issued a statement on Friday morning saying Ginsburg had been allowed out of hospital.

Ginsburg apologized for comments she made during the 2016 election calling Trump a "faker". "Doctors found three broken ribs on her left side".

Ginsburg's fall meant that she missed the largely ceremonial swearing in of new Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who repeated the judicial oath Thursday in front of Trump and other government officials following a divisive confirmation process, during which he faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
