Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi played lead roles in Sarkar that is produced by Sun Pictures.

There have been protests by AIADMK workers in the state against the film.

However, recently in an interview, TTV Dhinakaran revealed that Komalavalli is not the birth name of Jayalalithaa. A scene where a mixer grinder was being burnt has been deleted.

"The protests (against the film) will not continue", he told reporters here. We will also take this to the attention of the Chief Minister.

"We have made a decision to delete the scenes that AIADMK workers found to be offensive", said Shanmugasundaram, owner of Udhayam Theatres in Chennai.
