Iconic set from ‘Westworld,’ dozens of films burns in wildfire

The Agoura Hills set used to film the HBO series "Westworld" was destroyed Friday in the Woolsey Wildfire. The historic "western town" area in the mountains outside of Los Angeles, where projects like Westworld, Gunsmoke, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, and many others were shot, has burned to the ground. Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman, the 1990s Western drama starring Jane Seymour filmed there, as well as 1968's Herbie The Love Bug, the acclaimed HBO series Carnivale and more were all filmed there.

As it stands, 75,000 homes have been evacuated as the blaze sweeps though Ventura and Los Angeles, with the mansion used to film The Bachelor also torched down.

Paramount Ranch, which served as a filming location for almost 500 films and television shows over the years, is the latest casualty of the wildfires that are now sweeping across California. Westworld season 3 has not yet started production. It was acquired by the National Park Service in 1980 but has continued to function as a filming location, serving as a location for the first two seasons of the sci-fi series "Westworld".

According to CNN, the fire is one of a trio of California wildfires that have left at least five dead and destroyed thousands of structures and forced thousands of residents to evacuate. The property, now part of the National Park Service, was the set for a number of Hollywood productions, including The Lake House and Caught in the Draft, as well as TV shows such as Weeds, The Mentalist, and Quickdraw. Westworld is not now in production, and as the area has been evacuated, we do not yet know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there.

Woolsey Fire burns 8,000 acres; 75K homes under evacuation orders
Powerful winds caused the Camp Fire to spread quickly, filling the sky with toxic smoke that could be seen from San Francisco. Wind gusts of up to 77 miles per hour were reported in Los Angeles County on Friday morning.

The site has been home to multiple producations since the 1950s, when its Western Town was created for TV shows, such as "The Cisco Kid:".

Paramount Pictures purchased the 2,700-acre Agoura ranch in 1927 to use as a "movie ranch".

HBO expressed concern for "all those affected by these awful fires".

A California fire official says six major fires are burning around the state, and characterized three of them as "critical".
