An assault on NHS staff is an assault on us all

An assault on NHS staff is an assault on us all

"There's always more we can do to support them".

The government approach has been informed by the inquiry into the Emotional and Mental Health of Children and Young People and the seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss the key issues highlighted by the report and whether steps being taken are appropriate and sufficient. "And yet still only a fraction of total NHS spending will be directed towards mental health, undermining the Government's ambition to put mental health on equal footing with physical health", he said.

"It's become clear that the mental health crisis warrants a significant commitment if we are to tackle the problem and improve services across the country".

"The reduction in business rates may bring welcome relief for some smaller community pharmacy businesses and we were also pleased to note [the] funding to help transform local high streets", Dukes said.

"All that goes through my mind when a situation like that happens, especially nowadays when there are people just stood there recording it, is "Am I going to lose my job for restraining someone when I'm just trying to protect myself".

"I look forward to analysing the detail to ensure that this funding will be available to front line services to start closing the gap in social care of over £3bn".

In the Budget, Hammond also announced that business rates would be cut by a third for all retailers in England with a rateable value of £51,000 or less, and that a "Future high streets fund" worth £675m would be allocated to councils to help transform local high streets.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has rejected the comparison of "Trident Juncture 18" to the alliance's exercises during the Cold War.

The chancellor also announced a £2 billion funding boost for mental health, but as part of the long-term funding increase promised by Theresa May for the NHS earlier this year, equating to a real-term increase of £20.5 billion a year by 2023/24.

"There are many pressing demands on NHS funding, but few more pressing than the needs of those who suffer from mental illness", Hammond said.

"Prevention, as the health and social care secretary has flagged, must be a priority and trusts need the right buildings and equipment and the right numbers of staff with the right skills to provide outstanding care".

"This should have been a budget for the NHS to celebrate extra money after a decade of austerity, and make no mistake the confirmation of that money is welcome".

"And social care remains the Achilles heel - it has been consistently underfunded, neglected and unloved by politicians over many years and the extra funding announced today - again, welcome - is clearly inadequate".

By 2022 we will have around £35 to 40 million less per year.

"These new services will ensure that people suffering from a crisis, young or old, can get the help they need, ending the stigma which has forced too many to suffer in silence and ending too the tragedy of too many lives lost to suicide".
