Amazon offering free shipping for holiday orders

Amazon announced that they are offering free shipping on hundreds of millions of items, starting November 5.

'Tis the season for online shopping, especially if Amazon is your go-to destination. Starting on Monday, Amazon says it will remove that minimum order requirement on eligible items "for a limited time", without providing a specific end date for the promotion.

Amazon isn't the only merchant slashing shipping fees. That would be more than 12 percent of the $71.8 billion in sales that analysts now expect the company to report for the quarter.

Amazon Prime members, including customers enjoying a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime, will have an exclusive 30-minute early access period to all Lightning Deals.

The golden font was debuted in posters for the show's second season and "Winter Is Coming" is the season's debut tagline. The Hollywood Reporter said the British actor will play a key role in the series but not the male lead.

Mobile shoppers, can also find where their parcels are in seconds in the Amazon App, use camera search to quickly find the items they want by pointing at an item or barcode, and never miss a deal by setting "Watch-a-Deal" alerts.

This doesn't mean the company is giving away Prime for the holidays: The announcement doesn't specify a set delivery time across all of the qualifying items, and it does mention the subscription service several times before the first paragraph has even concluded.

Amazon also points out the extra advantages Prime subscribers get, including free Same-Day delivery on over three million products, as well as "in as little as an hour" deliveries and one hour grocery delivery or pickups in 60 cities. Even though over half of all U.S. households now have Prime memberships, Amazon would undoubtedly like to convert even more consumers to paid subscribers.

Amazon's plan could overshadow holiday strategies from top competitors like Target, which offers free two-day shipping on all orders from November 1 to December 22.
