Same-Sex Couple Both Carry Same Baby; Doctor Pushes Back Against Criticism

It is truly mind-boggling to consider the extent to which the science and technology sectors have dedicated themselves to making LGBT fantasies a reality, from transgender people demanding free wombs to reproductive technologies ensuring that same-sex couples can create designer babies biologically connected to both of them.

"We were just talking one night at home and I said, 'You know, I think we could use this for a same-sex couple, '" Kathy told the news outlet.

Through Effortless IVF, instead of placing the sperm and eggs into incubators, they go into an INVOcell. Ashleigh said, Image source " I'm excited to put all this in his baby book!"

However, when she fell in love with Ashleigh and learned from Dr. Kathy Doody that they carry their baby, she went all in.

"We anxious that he wouldn't connect to me because he has [Bliss'] DNA", Ashleigh says.

Bliss' eggs were harvested and inseminated in August 2017. That's why it ended up costing them nearly 50% less than what it takes for a traditional IVF.

The Doodys began by stimulating Bliss's ovaries and extracting an egg, just like they would for any other couple trying for a baby with IVF. Then, the device was placed into Bliss' body for five days to start developing the embryo.

"This represents the first time that two women have both physically carried their child together", fertility specialist Dr. Kathy Doody of The Center for Assisted Reproduction said.

The highlight of the new MacBook Air is the 8th generation dual-core Intel i5 that is clocked at 1.6GHz. This device has a "3rd-generation keyboard" with "3x more stable" butterfly mechanism hardware inside.

While Ashleigh wanted to be a mother for as long as she could remember, Bliss wasn't as interested in the concept. "We have livers, kidneys, and lungs so we're able to provide those same services to the embryo more naturally". In layman's terms, the process allowed Bliss to carry the embryo for five days as it formed, and that embryo was then transplanted into Ashleigh, who carried the child, a son named Stetson, to term.

Doctors evaluated Ashleigh's uterus, gave her estrogen and then progesterone, waited for the right time and transferred her wife's embryos to her body.

Reciprocal effortless IVF, the process Bliss and Ashleigh had, is about $8,000 with medication, compared with traditional reciprocal IVF involving lab incubators that costs $15,000 to $20,000.

"I think it opens up new avenues, new choices for same-sex couples", Kathy said.

The couple did not focus on how groundbreaking this work was during the pregnancy, and has only come out about it after the fact, to help other potential parent know it is an option.

'So that made it really special for the both of us - that we were both involved. She said, Image source " It was so exciting knowing that I was growing my own biological child inside of me".

The couple says that even though Stetson, now nearly 5 months old, only has Bliss' DNA, he's got a bit of both of them in his personality: "He's loud, just like me", Ashleigh says with a laugh.
