World Cup winner Lloris fined $65,000 for drunk driving

World Cup winner Lloris fined $65,000 for drunk driving

Lloris was charged with a single count of drink driving and appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.

He was given a fine of £50,000 and banned from driving for 20 months.

His lawyer David Soan said the "spectacular fall from grace" was not lost on the World Cup-winning goalkeeper.

"Just 40 days later, he was arrested". "Today he apologises to the court".

Lloris is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, having gone from strength to strength over his six-year stint at Tottenham.

The Spurs goalkeeper provided a sample containing 80 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Boateng reveals reason for turning down Mourinho and Man Utd
And if that is the case, a swap deal can be something that Jose Mourinho would look forward to. I feel well at Bayern, it's one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my team-mates, the manager and all of the supporters", he said.

"Drink-driving is completely unacceptable".

When cops pulled him over, "Officers observed his speech was slurred, he was helped from the vehicle by an officer, he was unstable on his feet, and there was evidence of vomit at the scene".

They had to help the goalkeeper from his auto. He had initially booked a taxi but it cancelled, prompting Lloris to drive - something described by Mr Sonn as "the first of a number of unwise decisions". "I made a mistake, I have to accept it".

The married father of two looked stoic and dressed impeccably in a dark suit and blue shirt as he made his way in silence through a crush of reporters into the courtroom.

Lloris has been sidelined for the last few weeks with a thigh injury, meaning he missed Spurs's 2-1 defeat to Watford and France's Uefa Nations League games against Germany and the Netherlands.
