Stewart powers Storm to WNBA title

Stewart powers Storm to WNBA title

Sue Bird says she will not visit the White House if the Seattle Storm is invited after winning the WNBA championship.

No wonder players and coaches were exhausted after pulling an all-nighter, celebrating at a nearby restaurant after finishing off a sweep of the Washington Mystics just outside the nation's capital.

The Seattle Storm blew out the Washington Mystics on the road Wednesday, Sept. 12 to secure the franchise's third WNBA Championship, its first since 2010. "We still have a ways to go to make this league what we want it to be as players, just to be a professional league that we can be proud of".

In the past year Stewart has spoken up about her assault, posed for ESPN's Body Issue (as did Bird) and won both the league and finals MVP trophies.

When she was drafted in 2016, Seattle had missed the playoffs in the previous two seasons.

After scoring 10 points of 4-for-11 shooting in Game 1, Delle Donne - who suffered a bone bruise in her left knee in the semifinals - scored 17 points on 7 of-16 shooting in Game 2 while switching from a brace to a sleeve.

"This is probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me", said Stewart, who averaged 25.7 points in the Finals. "But this is a very special moment that I'm a part of this special group, and I think I'm just realizing how special they really were". We all know that. Hughes knows that the Mystics likely won't go 0-for-16 again on 3-pointers like they did in Game 2. She's figured it out.

‘Once in a lifetime,’ $11M worth of gold unearthed in blast
A handful of gold rocks could be worth several thousand dollars, so security has been beefed up in the days since the find. Over the past week, approximately 9,250 ounces of high-grade gold was produced from a 130-tonne cut on the mine's 15 level.

Trust me. I've got a full batch of BreakingT shirts in my closet, and they're the best shirts I own.

As did numerous players who represent those teams, such as Seahawks stars Earl Thomas, Russell Wilson and Frank Clark.

"It feels great", a bleary-eyed Stewart told reporters as she stepped into Sea-Tac Airport, fresh off of an early-morning flight.

"It doesn't feel real yet, honestly", WNBA Finals MVP Breanna Stewart said after the game.

Fans of the former Huskies paid close attention to the championship game. A little over a year ago Stewart opened up about her past, sharing with the world that as a child she had been sexually assaulted by the husband of a relative. It helped that she had her frontcourt partner Natasha Howard having the game of her life as well. Howard was right behind her, dropping a double-double 29 points and 14 rebounds in the win, shooting 11-of-14 from the field.

Bird has played on all three championship teams.

"She's victor, what else can I say", Auriemma said, smiling broadly as Breanna Stewart strolled around EagleBank Arena after the Storm's 98-82 win clutching the WNBA trophy in one hand and the Finals MVP award in the other. She truly was the MVP of these Finals.
