Seahawks to sign LB Mychal Kendricks after guilty plea to insider trading

"Seattle not likely to waste any time: Kendricks expected to play Monday night vs. Bears", Schefter tweeted Thursday evening. While Seattle is signing Kendricks to bolster its depth at linebacker, it's unclear how long he may be able to play for the Seahawks as the National Football League has yet to impose any discipline.

ESPN first reported Kendricks' deal with the Seahawks.

A week after pleading guilty to federal charges of insider trading, Mychal Kendricks is going to sign with the Seattle Seahawks. Kendricks pleaded guilty last week to insider trading charges.

Kendricks spent six seasons with Philadelphia before signing with the Browns on a one-year deal in the offseason.

"Four years ago, I participated in insider trading, and I deeply regret it", Kendricks said via statement. The Browns released him after he was indicted. Per Schefter, his sentencing has now been pushed back to January, leaving Kendricks available for the regular season.

We'll see as this all unfolds what type of punishment Kendricks will face for his actions. Kendricks allegedly profited almost $1.2 million by using non-public information he received from Damilare Sonoiki, a global investment firm banker, in exchange for $10,000 and a Eagles tickets.

Drafted in the second round by Philadelphia out of Cal in 2012, Kendricks appeared in 85 games (74 starts) with the Eagles from 2012-17. He and Sonoiki were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and one count of securities fraud.
