Rain forces postponement at Indy, sets up Monday NASCAR doubleheader

The NASCAR Cup Series regular-season finale Brickyard 400 has been postponed to Monday afternoon because of rain to at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Start time for the Xfinity race is 10 a.m.

The Brickyard 400 is the final race before the start of the 10-race, championship-deciding playoffs. This may sound a little insane but maybe the teams should get a 30-minute practice session before each race? Indianapolis has been drenched in three days of rain and NASCAR has not been able to get any cars on track before Sunday's scheduled race. This almost became an issue in last year's Brickyard 400 after a one-hour, 47-minute rain delay took place during the race.

As long as the first two stages of the race, which extend through the 100th of its 160 scheduled laps, are completed, the race would be deemed official and there would be no need to return tomorrow.

Rain washed out the entire weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the final race before the playoffs was moved to Monday. Cable subscribers can also watch on the NBC Sports app.
