Meghan brings her mum to launch first solo project

Meghan brings her mum to launch first solo project

Ragland was spotted at the airport in Los Angeles a few days ago, and observers assumed she would be in London for Meghan's big event.

The Duchess of Sussex's mother, Doria Ragland, attended her first engagement on Thursday afternoon at Kensington Palace alongside her daughter and son-in-law. Needless to say, she nailed it!

Meghan quickly got stuck in, preparing food that was laid out on trestle tables, dishing out green rice and later flipping chapatis and then watching kofta kebabs, turning them so they browned evenly.

"I felt, on a personal level, so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity".

"Your warmth and your kindness, and also to be able to be in this city and to see in this one, small room how multicultural it was", she continued. "(There are) 12 countries represented in this one group of women - (it's) pretty outstanding".

Guests included members of the local community, staff from Ebury Press, which is publishing the book, members of the Al Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre, where the kitchen is based, and staff from the Royal Foundation.

They called their project Hubb, the Arabic word for love, and since January - Meghan has been visiting and cooking with them.

Points to watch for at Pyongyang summit
The warmth welcome did not compared to what happened 18 years ago when South Korean leader then Kim Dae-jung visited Pyongyang. At the briefing, Im also outlined Moon's itinerary, stressing that it was subject to change.

"Everyone embraced this so deeply, because it's been a passion project for all of us - and for very good reason".

"The power of food is more than just the meal itself, it is the story behind it".

But while speaking to one guest, a gust of wind blew strands of Meghan's hair into her face and she was seen trying to move it out the way.

"Soon there were women from different cultures all cooking, swapping recipes, talking and laughing".

The palace said the group of women behind the project had made a decision to gather and prepare fresh food for their families and neighbours, as a way of helping the community to connect, heal and look forward - and to "convene through food".

The proceeds of the cookbook will go towards supporting the kitchen - which is only open two days a week due to a lack funding - and will keep it open seven days a week. A single-breased royal blue Smythe coat, which retails for $1,195, topped off the look.
